John C. Longhead

John C. Loughead, 97, of Jeannette, a veteran newspaperman who retired only 10 years ago, died at 7 o'clock Thursday evening at the Fry Rest Home in Greensburg. He had resided there for the past year.
Born at Circleville, near Irwin, he started his newspaper career on an Irwin weekly paper before moving to Jeannette. He was editor of the old Jeannette Dispatch in 1914 when the Jeannette News was formed and later served as a reporter with the News-Dispatch after their merger. He had been honored by the Jeannette paper may years ago after completing 25 years of service. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeannette.

John married Katerine M. Martin, daughter of Joseph Brady Martin and Elizabeth Lauffer, on 20 Feb 1889 in Pennsylvania. (Katerine M. Martin was born on 29 May 1866 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and died on 6 Sep 1952.)
