William Thompson Mechling

He was a Lt. Colonel in the Spanish-American War and a Colonel in the National Guard. During the Pittsburgh riots in 1877, he acted as Provost Marshall. He was active in civic affairs and was a printer for the Democratic "Herald". At the time of his death, he was postmaster in Butler.
William married Mary Elizabeth McJunkin, daughter of James T. McJunkin and Rose, on 10 Apr 1878. (Mary Elizabeth McJunkin was born in 1853 and died on 14 Jan 1911.)
