Anna Mae Lauffer was born in a home near the Westmoreland County Fairgrounds, more recently owned by Adam Trice. This home appears still to be in good condition and is located about a mile from the Henry Lauffer Homestead which her grandfather built in the 1840s on the 175 acres of farm land he bought.
