HAZZARD P. MARSHALL was born 5 May 1816 Harrison Co. KY. He was still alive in 1888 in Madison Co. IN. Hazzard married twice. His first wife was Phoebe Adaline FISHER, daughter of Rev. Henry Fisher, a Methodist circuit rider in the Shelbyville and Blue Ridge area; they were married 16 November 1837 in Shelby Co. IN by Amos Sparks, Methodist minister. In the 1860 Tipton Co. Census, Hazard was worth $1400 in real estate, and a John Leavell, 25, born 1835 in IN was living with them. Phoebe died 8 November 1861 age 46y 8m 3d and was buried in Cook Cemetery, Tipton Co. IN. Hazzard married secondly to Martha Gilliam, widow of Peter Gilliam, in Howard Co. IN on 8 October 1866. There is no death record for Hazzard in Howard, Madison, or Tipton Co. IN. We believe he died ca. 1883 in Elwood, Madison Co., Indiana (per the obituary for his son James H.). He was said to be a minister of the Methodist church.
