From The Daily Courier, Connellsville PA, December 21, 1976, Page 3 JAMES KALP James Kalp, 87, of Grindstone, died at 4 a.m. today at Brownsville General Hospital. He was born Oct. 11, 1889, in Saltlick Township, a son of the late John C. and Anna Newill Kalp. He had resided in Grindstone for the past 40 years and was a retired coal miner for the U. S. Steel Co. He was a member of the U.M.W.A. 1248. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Kinneer Kalp; one son, John R. of Kileen, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Charles (Hazel) Shepler of Connellsville, R.D. 2, Mrs. Robert (Olive) McHenry of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Ludwig (Bonnie) Muccioli of Star Junction; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mrs. Lettie Blank Kalp in 1922; his second wife, Mrs. Ella Wigle Kalp in 1935; three sisters, Mrs. Dollie Sumey, Mrs. Minnie Tinkey and Mrs. Olive Matthews, and three brothers, Percy, Hayes and Hunter Kalp.
James married Ella Wigle, daughter of Wilson Seward Wigle and Margaret Watson, about 1925. (Ella Wigle was born on 24 Jun 1885, died on 3 Mar 1936 in Brownsville Hospital, Brownsville, PA and was buried in St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Trauger, PA.)
