Herman Wigle

Herman J. Wigle, 85, of Export (Municipality of Murrysville), formerly of Pitcairn and Garden City (Monroeville), died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 1998, in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Feb. 26, 1913, in Penn Township, a son of the late J. Chalmer and Mary E. Hild Wigle. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an agent for the Prudential Insurance Co. He was a member of the Delmont Presbyterian Church, a former member and past president of the Pitcairn Kiwanis, and had helped with the Meals on Wheels and the Food Bank, both in Delmont. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Wigle; and by two sisters, Mary Jane Glass and Ruth Wigle. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy M. Romig Wigle; two daughters, Dorothy Jean Shillingburg of Bessemer and Janet E. Duch and her husband, James, of Penn Hills; a brother, Charles Wigle and his wife, Catherine, of Trafford (Penn Township); a sister, Rena Yocum and her husband, Charles Lester, of Marion, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Wigle's family will receive friends at the JOHN L. BASH FUNERAL HOME, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, (724) 468-8381, Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral home hours: Thursday 7:00-9:00 p. m. and Friday 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Saturday at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev. Glen H. Burrows, officiating. A graveside service and interment will follow in Eastview Union Cemetery, Delmont.
