Jacob and Emily did a great deal of traveling. Their first child was born in Maryland, the second on Virginia, the next two were born in Alabama, the next four were born in West Virginia, which, at the time, was still Virginia. The ninth child, Charles, was born in Wisconsin, the tenth was born in Illinois and the last two were born back in Wisconsin.
Jacob married Emily Sandridge on 26 Jul 1829 in Virginia. (Emily Sandridge died on 2 Nov 1896 in Fair Grove, Greene County, Missouri.)
