Pleasant where he served as a participant in the former Men's Brotherhood, lay speaker, church council, board of trustees, Rubo Sunday School class, an usher, and offering counter. He was a member of the first graduating class from Ramsay High School in 1930. When the students moved into the new school in March, they walked with their books between Second Ward and Ramsay. When Randall graduated at age 16, he had to get a special permit from the Superintendent of Schools to enter college because of his young age. He studied at California State Teachers College in California, PA, where he played first base on the baseball team. The cost was $20 for tuition each semester and $144 a semester for room and board. His class was comprised of 600 women and 100 men. He earned a teaching certificate when he graduated in 1932.Randall taught in Bullskin Township from 1932-1937 for a salary of $100 a month. He accepted a job in Mt. Pleasant Township at Overly School located outside of Kecksburg and received a raise to $1000 a year.
