General Notes: Mrs. Laffer passed away Sunday, June 19, 1955 in Des Moines hospital where she was taken on Thursday after she had suffered a stroke. She was born near So. English, the daughter of William / Walter T and Elizabeth Lambert Coffman. Her early life was spent as a music instructor and a school teacher. In 1905 "Ginnie" and John began their wedded life on a farm southwest of South English. After the death of her husband, she went to Minnesota where she kept house for her son, the late Walter Laffer. Since his death she has made her home with other children. She was a member of the English River church of the Brethren. Mary married John Laffer, son of Benjamin Franklin Laffer and Emily Stokesberry, on 25 Jun 1905 in Keokuk County, Iowa. (John Laffer was born on 21 Nov 1868 in Sigourney, Keokuk Co, Iowa, died on 10 Mar 1921 in Iowa and was buried on an unknown date in Pleasant Hill, South English, Iowa.) |
