He had type 1 diabetes and a heart pacemaker. At the time, 11/1964, he was the youngest person to receive a pacemaker.
His godparents are his uncle and aunt, Charles E. and Anita (Rogenmoser) Kratochvil.
He was named after his Uncle Chuck. His Uncle had a tryout with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1934. His father, Jack, told his brother, Chuck, that if he won the tryout game he would name the baby after him if it was a boy. Chuck's team won the tryout game.
Charles married Germaine Eherenrtude (Gerry) Dietz, daughter of Ewald Charles Hahn (Wally) Dietz and Rose Marie Florey.
