General Notes: The ambition of Herbert's life was electrical work which he learned from a correspondence course and through many hours of study on his own. After earning his Master Electrician license, he also owned and operated Nidey's Hardware and Herb's Electric. He really enjoyed his work and was especially pleased with the opportunity to do the electrical work at the hospital in Hugoton, KS, and a bank in Springfield. He also did some plumbing, mechanic work on his own vehicles and was a general "fixer." Herbert became a member of the body of Christ early in life, and attended the Sandy Soil Church of Christ. until his death. His influence in the Christian home he helped to establish and maintain is evident today and will continue to be through generations to come. Herbert married Audrey Myrtle Cooper, daughter of George Nelson Cooper and Estella Almira Harris, on 25 Dec 1928. (Audrey Myrtle Cooper was born on 30 Nov 1904 in Harper County, Oklahoma and died on 6 Jul 2008 in Campo, Baca County, Colorado.) |
