General Notes: He arrived on the ship "Billender Townsend" 5 Oct. 1737, settled in NC near the Catha River in the South Fork County in what is now Gaston Co. He build a log shanty and cleared the ground. Around 1747, he started back to Pa to look for a wife, but while camping out overnight, met a Peter Hoyle who was moving from MD to NC with his family. Sebastian eventually married Peter's daughter. He was a Pvt. in a militia company formed under Capt. Samuel Coburn to defend against Indian attacks. He was a tailor and farmer. Sebastian married Elizabeth Catharina Heyl (Hoyle) in 1750 in Anson County, North Carolina. (Elizabeth Catharina Heyl (Hoyle) was born on 4 Jan 1733 in Hundsbach, Lincoln, Germany and died in Lincoln County, North Carolina.) Sebastian next married Elizabeth Catherine Hoyles in 1750 in Anson County, North Carolina. (Elizabeth Catherine Hoyles was born in 1735.) |
