Paul was a lifelong resident of Penn Township where he was born and raised the farm he loved. He continued to work up to and including the day of his death. He was a graduate of Jeannette High School, Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Penn State University where he lettered in football and baseball. Paul was a former Penn Township Commissioner, a teacher in the Penn Trafford School District, and a farmer through his life.

Paul married Flora Edna (Dot) Kohl. (Flora Edna (Dot) Kohl was born on 9 Feb 1916 and died on 25 Feb 1971.)
