General Notes:
Wilson was part of the 6th US. Army and was first stationed on New Guinea. The 174,000 men of the 6th U.S. Army under the command of General Walter Krueger hit the beaches of Leyte on 10/20/1944. Waiting for them was the Japanese 35th Army, who laid a heavy line of fire on the approaching American soldiers.
Some of those casualties saved Brown's life. "I ended up on the bottom of the boat. There were dead bodies on top of me. They saved me." I was stabbed in the arm by a Japanese bayonet, I told the medic to just put a band air on it.
Brown also participated in the invasion of Japan held Luzon. Brown's only comment on Luzon invasion - I survived. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, an Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with three Bronze Star, a World War II Victory Medal, and the Bronze Star Medal.
Wilson married Therisa Davanti, daughter of Salvatore Samual Davanti and Philomena Evangehst, on 24 Oct 1942. (Therisa Davanti was born on 1 Nov 1924 and died on 8 Feb 2009 in Jeannette, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.)
