Solomon was born in a little log cabin in a cornfield. He was the oldest of eight children. When he was five years old his family moved to the timbers of Shelby Co. Ohio. His father was a farmer and a timber cutter. Solomon married Louisa A. Rhoads in Howard Co. Indiana. He was a Union soldier for the last three years of the Civil War. He was a Corporal under Capt. Timothy H. Leese, Co. G, 57th Regiment of Indiana infantry. He was discharged Feb 4, 1865 at Huntsville, Alabama. After the war Solomon and Louisa moved their family to Holt Co. Missouri. Solomon was a veterinarian and practiced up until three years before his death.
Solomon married Louisa A. Rhoads on 6 Sep 1855 in Howard Co., Indiana. (Louisa A. Rhoads was born in 1840 and died on 1 Jan 1916.)
