"Nebraska Legislative Year Book - 1897", pp. 128-129, under State Representatives, has Hon H. C. Keister. Portions read: "The 22nd Dist. is represented in the house by Hon. H.C. Keister, of Boone county. He was born in Westmoreland County, PA, Oct 5, 1848 of German ancestry... On his 16th birthday he enlisted in the service of his county in Co. I, 88th PA Vols...mustered out June 30, 1865. Three years later he married Miss Jennie M. Hoey, of Murraysville, PA...came west in 1876, landing in Essex, Iowa, where he remained until the fall of 1883, moving from there to Nebraska, and settling on the place where he now lives, about four miles from St. Edward..."
