Annie must have died shortly after her Last child, Florence May. Her husband, Jerry, died in 1907. This left Wilbur Hayes, and brother Clarence Alvin to be paced in an orphanage. The 1910 census shows Hayes and Clarence in the St. Paul's Orphan's Home in west Salem Township, Mercer County, PA. Hayes was 14 in 1910.

Anna married Jeremiah (Jerry) Lauffer, son of Jacob B. Lauffer and Susan Berlin, on 11 Aug 1891 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. (Jeremiah (Jerry) Lauffer was born on 11 Nov 1869 in Penn Township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylania, died on 22 Apr 1907 in Harrison City, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Brush Creek, Westmoreland County, PA.)
