Merle J. "Pete" Lauffer, 75, of Jeannette, PA, died Tuesday, March 25 1987, in Monsour Medical Center, Jeannette, He was born Oct. 25 1911, in Penn Township, a son of the late Simon Peter and Stella Mae Harvison Lauffer.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Penn Central Railroad Co. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Jeannette. Merle was a World War 11 veteran having served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of American Legion Post 344 of Jeannette and also belonged to the Polish White Eagles of Jeannette.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and a sister, Alberta Mae Cramer.
He is survived by his wife, Adeline Bertolino Lauffer; a son, James H. of Charlotte; a daughter, Lynette Rose Eidem of Harvey, LA; four grandchildren; Melissa and Erik Lauffer and Sean and Brended Eidem; two brothers, Robert E. of Greensburg and Howard W. of Tucson; a sister Velma Jones of Irwin; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Merle married Adeline Bertolino, daughter of Otto Bertolino and Alva Cecconie.
