Of Hungarian descent. He was a draftsman, and also taught drafting at Westinghouse High night school. He was hired by Westinghouse Corporation as a draftsman and moved to Monroeville.

Carl married Bess Edna Noah, daughter of John Pressley Noah and Amanda Gertrude Allshouse, on 18 Dec 1916. (Bess Edna Noah was born on 12 Dec 1898 in Penn Ave and died on 27 Oct 1937.)
