General Notes: John Bash Sr., also spelled Besch, was a Revolutionary War Veteran. He lived along the Kiskiminetas River on a tract of land with his family that his wife, Matty's brother, Adam Lauffer, purchased and later sold to his father, Christian Lauffer. The Kiskiminetas River boarders Westmoreland and Indiana counties. This information is subject to the date of the deed in the Westmoreland County Deed Records. As Christian the Pioneer died prior 1796. This tract of land may well have continued in ownership by Adam, not Christian. John married Magdalena (Matty) Lauffer, daughter of Christian Lauffer Sr. and Susanah Catharina Best, in 1785. (Magdalena (Matty) Lauffer was born on 7 Aug 1762 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, died on 13 Dec 1838 in Loyalhanna Twp, (Now Bell) Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania and was buried in Saint James Lutheran Church, Bell twp, Westmoreland Co., PA.) |
