Christian Rice and Charlotte Hine settle near Tylertown Pa, in 1815 on a farm previously entred by his father, from which place he came to Ohio, locating in 1819 on 160 acres he purchase for $600 near New Pitsburg, Ohio. He was an active member in the Lutheran Church.

Christian married Charlotte Hine, daughter of Simon Hine and Eva Barbara Miller, in 1810 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. (Charlotte Hine was born on 10 Nov 1788 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, died on 16 Feb 1859 in Wayne County, Ohio and was buried in New Pittsburg Cemetery, Wayne Co. OH..)
