Thomas Zundel obit Thomas C. Zundel, 88, of New Alexandria RD2, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in the Westmoreland Skilled Care Center, Greensburg. He was born July 29, 1912, in Hempfield Township, a son of the late Albert Martin and Emma Walthour Zundel. Prior to retirement, he had been a self-employed farmer, had been a school bus driver for several years, and later had been employed by Salem Township with 14 years of service. He was a member of Harrold Zion Lutheran Church, Greensburg RD6, the Youngwood Rod and Gun Club, the Police Rod and Gun Club, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #23 of Youngwood. He was a former 4-H Horse Club leader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Bell Zundel, in 1991; by a daughter, Barbara Pershing, in 1993; four brothers, Martin, Paul, Ernest and Robert Zundel; and two sisters, Martha Robbins and Hattie Zundel. He is survived by three sons, Robert H. and his wife, Lee Zundel, and James R. Zundel, all of New Alexandria RD2, and Thomas C. Jr. and his wife, Becky Zundel, of New Wilmington, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Lauffer of Derry RD1 and Mrs. George (Jeanne) Pollock of Acme RD1; a son-in-law, Robert Pershing of Greensburg; 19 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; a step great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Friday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday from noon until 2 p.m., the time of services in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert A. Free officiating. Interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
Thomas married Mary Bell. (Mary Bell died in 1991.)
