bullet  General Notes:

Linda Shaddick, nee Lauffer, was a dedicated wife, mother and teacher. Linda grew up in Warren, Ohio, surviving the practical jokes played be her older brother Dick (James Richard). One thing Linda was deftly afraid of was earth worms. Ohio grew the biggest and slimiest worms, called night crawlers, ever seen, and Dick would make sure a night crawler would always find its way into something in or around Linda. You could hear her for miles around. Linda graduated attended Warren G. Harding High School and graduated from Beaver High School after the family moved to Beaver, PA. Linda received her Teaching degree from Slippery Rock College and went on to teach elementary levels at College Square Elementary School in Beaver.

Linda had many suitors in Beaver but one special individual came into her life and took her away from the others. Terry (Graham) Shaddick married Linda and they raised two great children. Linda helped out with the family business by working in the office at the Correct Foundry in Zelienople, PA.

Linda passed away from cancer at the young age of 54. Her career in teaching at College Square Elementary School provided the education and guidance for many young people who are now benefiting from having Linda in their lives. Linda will long be remembered for her love of children and for developing the potential in every student, especially through writing. She became a Writing Fellow of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project (WPWP) in 1992. She served as Co -Director of the Western Pennsylvania Writing Project Summer Institute for teachers (Beaver site) in 1997; and as Co Director of the WPWP's Young Writers Institute (Beaver's site) in 1998.

Linda's shining inspiration as a life- long learner will continue to inspire all who knew her. The entire school community showed thier deep love for Linda as they lined up for hours at to show their last respects.

Her students and other children grouped together to organize and donate to a memorial and tree planting at their school. The photos shown are of the memorial taken in 2006.
