Barbara Jean (Becky) Lauffer

  General Notes:

Barbara's (Becky) biological father was Raymond Peiffer but Barbara was adopted out at birth and did not take the name of Peiffer. Becky's mother had to make a very courageous decision at the birth of Becky. She was faced with raising a child born out of wedlock in the small community of Latrobe, PA and had no visible means of support at the young age of 20. Becky's mother decided to give up her daughter, and with just delivering Becky, she walked out of hospital and had no further contact with her daughter. Some would say Becky's mother abandoned her but the real truth of the matter is she left her to be placed in more capable hands at that point in life. This must have been a very difficult decision to make.

Becky spent three years in a local orphanage and was then raised by a local woman who Becky has fond memories of to this day. Later, Becky stayed with a family on Lauffer Mine Rd. near Delmont. Her memories of this family were not that good. Over the years, Becky migrated to the Denver area where she now resides. During this time Becky had no knowledge of family heritage and always searched for the true family link. It was in 2004 when she found the Lauffer connection and was able to contact her mother. It is hoped that this mother daughter relationship will grow into a fellowship that will bind the mother with the daughter together with no feelings of disparity for the past.
