 Ida was a tiny, energetic lady with thick brown hair that hung past her waist, sometimes it was braided and coiled on her head.   She & her husband, Amos owned a farm in Culbertson, Mt.  Their sons started the first radio station in the area from the Jacobs farm and also invented the Jacobs Windcharger  (one as installed by Admiral Byrd at the South Pole).  The  wind charger generated electricity on their farm.   Ida loved laughing, traveling, reciting poetry and church.   Amos died in 1932 after accidently inhaling gasoline he was siphoning.   Ida then moved to Phoenix to live with her youngest daughter, Mary, who was also widowed.   Ida died in 1969, just a few months before her 100th birthday.   Ida married Amos M. Jacobs on 17 Sep 1890 in Wayne County Indiana. (Amos M. Jacobs was born in Feb 1868 in In. and died on 9 Apr 1932 in Culbertson, Mt..) |
