James married Martha Magdalena Bash, daughter of Christian (Christopher) Bash and Elizabeth George, on 30 Dec 1847. (Martha Magdalena Bash was born on 8 Dec 1828 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, died on 29 Oct 1912 in Valentine, Cherry Co., NE and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Valentine, Cherry Co., NE.)
