Bash Elliott (Bash was his mother's maiden name) was born near Liscomb, IA, May 9, 1893. He and Myrtle Hurdle were married in December 1914. Their first home was three miles north of Marshalltown, IA on Highway 14, on 100 acres. Eighty acres was a gift from his father and they bought 20. Myrtle's dowry was a milk cow. In the early 1920s they moved to a newly purchased farm of 160 acres and throughout the years amassed over 1100 acres. This land was three miles northwest of Green Mountain, IA.
Bash married Myrtle Mae Hurdle, daughter of George W. Hurdie and Cora Alice Bowers, on 18 Feb 1914. (Myrtle Mae Hurdle was born on 16 Dec 1894 in Jasper County, IA and died on 1 Feb 1988.)
