Laffer, E. druggist and jeweler; born in Tuscarawas County Ohio, April 17, 1837; he was raised on Ohio; in mercantile pursuits until seventeen years of age; in 1854 he came to Keokuk county and has been engaged in merchandising since that time; he has been closely identified with the growth and prosperity of the country; he has attained a large measure of success and gained an enviable place in the confidence of the people; he has served the county on its board of supervisors and the city in its council; he enlisted in the Forty-seventh Iowa Infantry during the late war; Mr Laffer is one of the organizers of the Union Bank and vice president of the same.
Emanuel married Susan F. Godson about 1870. (Susan F. Godson was born on 12 Sep 1847 in Troy, New York and died after 1923 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California.)
