General Notes:
Information shows that Adam was formally named John Adam Loffer and some places Lauffer. The tradition of the Lutheran Church was to name the sons as John or Johann as the first name and the second or middle name as their common name.
The sponsors at Adam's baptism were Christian's son Adam and Margaret Trumm (Drumm)
From the Genealogical History of the Allegheny Valley, PA, by John W Jordan, Pub1913, Page 547.
During the war of 1812 John Loffer, a gunsmith, was killed by Indians near his home at Black Rock, New York. His wife buried him where the mighty falls of Niagara have been singing his requiem ever since, and then with her five children she made her way across to the headwaters of the Allegheny River, constructed a rude raft and floated down the river to where Catfish now stands. There they were welcomed and cared for by her brother and sister, Christopher and Susanna Truby, after the most perilous voyage ever made on the Allegheny River. When rested and refreshed they floated on down the river and settled in the state of Ohio; the two sons afterward moved to Iowa. At the earnest request of the uncle and aunt, Truby, the nine-year-old daughter, Susanna, namesake of Aunt Susie, was left with them. There she grew to womanhood and was married to Thomas Stewart, as already noted. After her death Mr Stewart married Mrs. Jemima Clark Miller, who lived to the great age of ninety-one years.
Adam married Elizabeth Truby.
