General Notes: The 1900 census finds Henry Munger, age 72, farming in the La Canada precinct of Burbank township, Los Angeles county, California. Living with him was his daughter Edith A., 16. Alice, 37, was living in Monrovia, El Monte township, Los Angeles county, CA. In the 1910 census, 47, widowed, she was landlady of a boardinghouse that included her two daughters: Ethel F., 20, Edith A., 26, and Edith's husband Andrew T. Badillo, 36, a fumigator, as well as 11 boarders---one of whom was an undertaker! In the 1920 census, Alice's daughter Edith was also widowed; and in the household was Alice's widowed mother Margaret E. Rodgers, 74; plus 6 boarders. So three generations of widowed women were under one roof in Monrovia, Los Angeles county, CA. Alice married Henry Munger on 11 Mar 1880 in Marshall County, Iowa. (Henry Munger was born on 10 May 1828 in Fenner, Madison County, New York.) |
