Israel Bash
- Born: 1834, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania
- Marriage (1): Nancy in 1854 in Pennsylvania
General Notes:
Israel was thought to have married twice but there has been no research confirmation of the second marriage. He had seven children with Nancy based on her statement in the 1900 census.
Israel Bash moved to Mercer County with the rest of his family. From Mercer County, Pennsylvania he moved to Marshall County, Iowa about 1855. He farmed 160 acres in Iowa Township. About 1860, he lived briefly in Missouri before moving back east to Venango County, Pennsylvania. The 1880 census lists him back in Iowa, farming near Irvington in Kossuth County. The 1900 census lists him as a carpenter, living in Mystic township, Appanoose County, Iowa, with wife Nancy, their son Cap, and a granddaughter Cora Wicks, born August 1884 in South Dakota. (Cora may have been the daughter of Rosa Bash but this has not been confirmed). Family tradition says Israel made and lost a fortune in oil wells in Pennsylvania. In 1870 his address was Oil City, PA. After a financial panic throughout the nation in which banks closed and customers lost their deposits, Israel is said to have carried his money in valises because he no longer trusted banks.
Israel married Nancy in 1854 in Pennsylvania. (Nancy was born about 1831 in Pennsylvania.)
