Roy Aaron Loffer
General Notes: Roy was a sort of 'Jack of all trades'. He started out as a farmer, right after he married Gladys, but the Depression of the 30's was enough to force him to choose other ways to support his family. First, he worked for Union Pacific Railroad for many years, then moved to Gibbon and started his own auto repair shop with his brother-in-law, Clifford Brown. After "retiring", he continued to turn his wife's hair white by climbing on top of grain cars at an elevator. He was also a volunteer fireman, and served a few years on the town council.[chlauffer.FTW] Roy married Gladys Ellen Brown on 12 May 1930 in Lexington, Dawson County, Nebraska. (Gladys Ellen Brown was born on 4 Oct 1907 in Gibbon, Buffalo, Nebraska, U.S, died on 28 Mar 1991 in Gibbon, Buffalo, Nebraska, U.S. and was buried on 31 Mar 1991 in Gibbon, Buffalo, Nebraska, U.S..) |
