Jacob Wetters

Jacob was born March 3, 1802 in Switzerland near the boundary of Germany. He married Kungold Hauenstein in 1837 and the same year migrated to the United States. He first located in Pennsylvania, where he worked in the iron works, then in 1842 he migrated to Wayne County, Ohio,living there one year, when he came to Huntington County, Indiana. He was one of the earliest settlers of Warren Township. The country was a wilderness of woods, abounding in game of all kinds. He was a member of the Lutheran church and was a quiet man in his relations with the community but possessed a reputation for honesty and integrity. He was one of the original Republican voters in the township.

Jacob married Kungold Hauenstein, daughter of Rudoff Hauenstein and Anna Daffwyler, on 7 Mar 1837 in Tegerfelden, Switzerland.
