General Notes:
Jacob belonged to one of the older families of Huntington county. He was born in Wayne County, Ohio, as son of Jacob and Kungold (Hauenstein) Wetters. Both parents were of German descent, born in Switzerland near the boundary of Germany where they were married. They came to America in 1837 and after some time spent in Pennsylvania and Ohio moved to Huntington County, Indiana, in the year 1843. Jacob was reared in Warren township, and received a common education. He was a farmer of Huntington county, and had very little capital when he started in life at the age of twenty-one. His subsequent accumulations placed him among the substantial citizens of Warren township. Jacob owned one of the fine farms in that township, known as the Pine Grove Farm, consisting of eighty acres and located three miles east of Bippus and six and a half miles northwest of Huntington, in section twenty-four. In 1869 he married Charlotte A. Rice of Wayne County, Ohio. They were members of the Lutheran church. In politics he was a republican and took part in township and county affairs. Jacob, age 78, died at his home as a result of injuries sustained when a train struck the buggy in which he was riding at a crossing in the eastern edge of the village of Bippus.
Jacob married Charlotte Aniar Rice, daughter of Frederick Rice and Diana Firestone, on 1 Nov 1868 in Wayne County, Ohio. (Charlotte Aniar Rice was born on 7 Sep 1846 in Wayne County, Ohio, died on 13 Apr 1926 in Huntington Co. In. and was buried on 15 Apr 1926 in Clear Creek Cemetery-Huntington Co. In..)
