Millie A. Loffer
General Notes: "Millie A. Loffer, the eldest child of J.W. and Eliza Loffer, was born in Defiance, Iowa, March 31, 1880. Her earthly pilgrimage was ended after 73 years, 11 months, and 28 days, when she passed away at the home of her daughter, Beulah M. Peck, in Kansas City, MO, February 1, 1954. When Millie was very young, her parents moved to Shelton, Nebr. This vicinity was their home for many years. Here Millie attended the public schools, and as a young girl, she joined the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which was then holding services at the Gardner Schoolhouse (dist. 112, near the Hall County border -- nicole). In 1898, she was united in marriage to Rollo M. Luz. This union was blessed with a son, Emory G. Lux, now of Clinton, Oklahoma, and a daughter, Beulah M. Peck, mow of Kansas City. In 1918 she married Charles L. Stockham. This union was blessed with one son, Don C. Stockham, now of Kansas City. For the last 8 years, she made her home in Kansas City. She is survived by her children, by three granddaughters, and six great grandchildren; by two sisters, Pearl M. Loffer and Ethel O. Brown, both of Kearney; by three brothers, William A. and Irvin, bother of Gibbon, and Harry of Eddyville; by many nieces and nephews, living in both the Eddyville and Shelton, communities; and by other relatives and many friends. Her many friends, both in the Shelton community and where she lived, will miss her many kindness for them, in illness and in health; she was a warm and dear friend to all throughout her life.
